About me

"Чтобы удивиться, достаточно одной минуты;

чтобы сделать удивительную вещь, нужны долгие годы."

Клод Адриан Гельвеций

        Greetings! My name is Viktor Bahley.

I created this website not with the advertising or commercial purpose, and not as a tribute to computer fashion. It's just, obviously, the time has come to look back at the passed part of my creative path and record this information in digital form.

        Since childhood, I have been constantly drawing, studying in city art studios. In high school, I was called “a man of his hands" for my creative works. The first tries were made in the early 70s, when I served in the Baltic fleet. As my military unit was located in the centre of Leningrad (St. Petersburg), I had a possibility to visit the Hermitage, other museums and exhibitions. It was my first acquaintance with the world of great art, and my love for metals and jewellery was born.

        At the beginning of my creative path, I was already entrusted with the execution of several orders for the heads of government of the USSR, at the same time I got the first recognition of my work from eminent masters.

        I gained priceless experience at the Museum of Historical Treasures of Ukraine, where I worked for most of my creative life as the chief restorer and manager of the restoration department. Here I learned the history, culture, art and technology of the old masters. At the same time working as a restorer I got my diploma as a graphic artist. During the period of work in the museum, I have restored and brought back to life a large number of historical treasures from the 6th century B.C. to modern times. These museum rarities were exposed in numerous exhibitions in many countries of the world. Thanks to participation in the organisation of these exhibitions and personal visits, I had the opportunity to meet interesting people, culture and art, to see modern technological processes at different factories.

        Along with restoration work, I was constantly engaged in jewellery business. All the delicacy of the process I had to learn independently myself. But all the efforts were worth it - my jewellery took part in various exhibitions, including international ones where they were awarded with certificates and diplomas. My copyrighted works are in private collections in many countries of the world.

        I am convinced that the profession of jeweller is the most complex of all as it requires the great number of different specialties, and it takes years, perseverance and patience to master them perfectly, so I was happy to share my experience to my students from all around the world: the USA, Germany, Italy, Israel, Denmark, Slovakia, Morocco, and Russia.

        On this website you can see my handmade works in various genres using different jewellery techniques. While implementing an idea, I always pay a great attention to its artistic solution and perfect technical execution, putting a piece of my soul into each product.

        I am grateful to my wife Yulia Bahley for creating this website.
